11-08-08 - The resale market: an increasingly diverse and active market

After the significant fall seen in late 2008 and in the first half of 2009, the sales volume for resale properties in France as a whole has risen steadily since and reached 806,000 between April 2010 and March 2011.

My notaire services

Appointed by the State Minister of Justice, the civil law notary is responsible for the legality of official documents. He can enforce the deeds  he draws up and play the role of an arbitrator who, impartially, and under strict observance of the law, enables the parties to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.


       
       
       
       



       

1. My Personal Agent


1.1. What is your personal Agent

When registered and logged in on the Real Estate Portal of the French Notaires, you can access a "Personal Agent" area.



This is your personal area, from where you can :
- update your information
- manage your alerts
- check your ad selections

1.2. How to sign up for the Real Estate Portal of the French "Notaires"


Click on the "Sign up" link in the blue "Personal Agent" area of the welcome screen :



Then fill in the registration form :



N.B. : your email is essential, in order to receive a checking message for your registration. This message includes a link to validate your account.

1.3. How to find a forgotten password


In the event of a loss, to recall your password, you have to click on "Password forgotten" in the "Personal Agent" area. Then you have to indicate the email address associated with your account in the next form :



Your password will be sent to this mail box.
       
       

2. My alerts


2.1. What is an alert


An alert is a message which is sent to your email box and/or an SMS sent to your mobile phone, to keep you informed about new ads relevant to previously saved searches. To receive SMS text messages, your mobile phone number must be filled in at the time of registration.

2.2. How to create an alert


First you must be registered and logged in.
Then consulting a search result or the detail of an ad, you just have to click on "Transform my search into an alert" :



On the alert management screen, you can modify the name of the alert being created, and activate or inactivate alerts (up to 4 active alerts simultaneously) :


2.3. How to manage alerts


Once logged in with your user name and password, you can reach all existing alerts, clicking on "My alerts" in "My Personal Agent". You can then modify or delete an alert (see above).

If you want to delete all alerts, you just have to click on the "Delete all" button. The "Delete" box of each alert will be selected. Eventually, to validate your choice, click on "Update".

N.B. : When changing an alert, the update button must be clicked to validate changes. When an action is initiated (change, deletion…), this button turns blue (active) from grey (inactive).

N.B. : Clicking on an alert relaunch the corresponding search.
       
       

3. My ad selection


3.1. What is an ad selection


You can save an ad list during a search.
You reach this list clicking on "My ad selection" from the management area of your personal agent (registration and login required).

3.2. How to add an ad to my selection


First you must be registered and logged in.

Then consulting a search result or the detail of an ad, you just have to click on "Add this ad to my selection" :


3.3. How to reach my ad selection


Once logged in, the list of the selected ads can be reached through "My ad selection" from the management area in your personal area (see 1.1).
The ads are sorted by kind of transaction, then by kind of property :



Clicking on a category displays a list of the corresponding ads:



N.B. : When a property description only appears in French, it means there is no other version available. If an English version coexists, it will be displayed (following your language selection, in the top left corner of the home page).
       
       

4. Ad Search


4.1. How to execute a search by town


In the "Real Estate Classifieds" central menu, in the homepage, select "Search by town" (selected by default).



In the first field, enter a post code, the name of a town or a department number. Select the kind of transaction, property and a price range. Then click on "Search".

N.B. : You can search more than one post codes, towns or departments at the same time, just filling in one reference after the other, separated by a comma.

1st case : If the search doesn’t bear fruits, two possibilities : extend the search in a area of 5, 10 or 20 kilometers around the spot ; or modify search criteria :




2nd case : If there are too many results, you are invited to modify your search criteria, budget, floor area, number of rooms and/or bedrooms :



Then you just have to click on "search" to display results.
You can also ignore this message, and display all results by clicking click here in "Refine your search or click here".


3rd case : If the city name doesn’t exist or is too generic (for instance “Saint”, like in Saint-Mandé, Saint-Tropez, Saint Jean de Luz…), you can be more specific by selecting one or several names in the list that appears (ticking the relevant box(es)) :



N.B. : You can select "all towns/villages" or "no towns/villages" (none of the above) clicking on the corresponding button. In the first case, all boxes will be ticked. In the other case, none will be ticked.


Clicking on "continue my search", will reveal all available properties in the town(s) selected – following your specifications, like kind of transaction, kind of property or price range:



You can extend the search in a area of 5, 10 or 20 kilometers around your spot, or modify criteria of the search.

4.2. How to execute a map search


In the "Real Estate Classifieds" central menu of the homepage, select "Search by map". A map will appear :




In the field above the map, enter a post code, the name of a town or a department number, and click on "Locate". The map, which is by default in map view, will focus on the department, post code or town specified.



You can also select the satellite view by clicking on the corresponding button :



Finally, you can overlay the two types of views by clicking on the "Mixte" button :



If the area is too big, you can reduce it by making a zoom : either clicking on the "+" and "-" buttons, or handling the scroll wheel of your mouse (if your mouse have one). A third way is to use the "Zoom" button. From then, you have to define an area with the mouse : click once to define the starting point, and a second time to define the end point. The zoom is then automatically executed.



N.B. : At any time, you can move the area, either clicking on the left button of the mouse and moving it, or using the directional arrows.

At last, you just have to select the type of transaction, type of property and eventually enter a price range in the corresponding fields. Then click on the "search" button :



N.B. : If the zoom level is sufficient, the number of properties available in the area displayed will appear underneath the map (any type of offer and property).
